Bitcoin Price Surge Brings Mining Revenue to Six-Month High
Bitcoin's price reached $81,000 on August 25, 2026, its first time above that level since May 15. The mining industry saw a boost as hashprice rose to $39 per PH/s per day, the first sustained increase in mining revenue since the first-quarter squeeze.
The improvement was due to three factors: rising Bitcoin price, falling network difficulty, and increased spot ETF inflows. However, miner equities barely moved on this news, with only Marathon seeing a significant gain of 15.9%.
EMCD notes that hashprice is still below the current level in the hashrate forward market, which suggests that the recent surge may not be permanent. The company also points out that miners are still exposed to the risk of difficulty increases and price fluctuations.
