Bitcoin Price Surge Leaves $617 Billion in Capital Still Underwater

CryptoQuant's recent data reveals that despite Bitcoin's price surge to nearly $80,000, approximately $617 billion in capital remains at a loss. This figure accounts for about half of the total dollar value of Bitcoin's outstanding supply, which stands above $1 trillion.

According to CryptoQuant, 69% of Bitcoin's circulating supply is currently in profit, indicating that many investors have recovered previous losses. However, this has not translated into gains for all investors due to large holdings that remain unmoved for years.

Market analysts highlight that similar supply-in-profit metrics have occurred throughout the current cycle. The percentage of profitable Bitcoin has climbed, but a substantial amount of invested capital is still underwater.
