Bitcoin Price Surges 20% as Short Squeeze Hits Crypto Market
Bitcoin's price jumped sharply after several positive developments in the crypto market. The world's largest cryptocurrency gained around 20% this week, reaching $75,343.01 as of early Friday. This marks a significant recovery from its starting point of $62,836.88 at the beginning of the week.
The rally was not limited to Bitcoin, with other cryptocurrencies also experiencing gains. Coinbase shares rose 7.5%, while Circle gained 6.45%. Strategy, one of the biggest corporate holders of Bitcoin, climbed 7.8%.
The rise in Bitcoin's price can be attributed to a drop in US Treasury yields, which reduced pressure on riskier investments like cryptocurrencies. The decrease in yields made investors more willing to move money into riskier assets, leading to a short squeeze that further pushed up the price of Bitcoin.
