Bitcoin Price Surges 21%, Revives Forecasts to $150K
The Bitcoin price has seen a significant surge of 21% in just five days, reaching levels not seen since its August rebound. This jump has revived forecasts that had previously dropped to $82,000, with some analysts now predicting targets as high as $150,000 by the end of 2026.
One such analyst is Geoff Kendrick from Standard Chartered, who initially predicted a target of $100,000 for Bitcoin's price by the end of 2026. However, following the recent surge towards $80,000, Kendrick believes that this target may be too conservative and that the recovery could extend towards Bitcoin's previous record near $126,000.
Another analyst, Gautam Chhugani from Bernstein, is even more bullish, predicting a price of $150,000 by the end of 2026 with a potential cycle peak of $200,000 in 2027. This prediction is based on the fact that ETF demand has returned and the US Treasury's decision to double buybacks of longer-dated government bonds has loosened financial conditions.
However, not all analysts are as optimistic. Citi has reduced its 12-month Bitcoin forecast to $82,000 from $112,000 in July, citing a reduction in ETF inflows over the following year from $10 billion to zero. The bank also retains a bear case of $53,000 under recessionary conditions.
