Bitcoin Price Surges Above $78,900 as Institutional Demand Remains Strong
Bitcoin's price has started September strong, trading above $78,900 after a nearly 25% monthly return in August. This is its strongest performance since November 2024 and marks two consecutive months of positive returns.
Historical data suggests a cautious outlook for Bitcoin in September, with average losses of -2.86%. However, institutional demand remains robust, with spot Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) recording $216.70 million in net inflows on Monday, and Strategy adding 4,603 BTC to its holdings.
According to Simon-Peter Massabni, Head of Business Development at XS.com, the price action reflects a market highly sensitive to shifts in monetary policy expectations. He notes that if financial conditions tighten again, cryptocurrencies could face further corrections.
