Bitcoin Price Surges Past $79,000 as Analysts Predict Record-Breaking Prices
A recent surge in Bitcoin's price has left many market observers scrambling to make sense of it. The price jumped from $62,900 on August 16 to $79,500 just five days later, a 26% increase that has some analysts calling for even higher prices. According to Geoff Kendrick, Standard Chartered's global head of digital assets research, there is now a risk that his end-year forecast of USD100k may be too low.
Kendrick had previously cut his year-end call from $150,000 in February and now sees a retest of Bitcoin's record price of $126,000. This prediction comes as the market continues to show signs of strength, with retail investors increasingly taking on more risk and institutions seeming to lose control.
Some analysts are cautioning against getting caught up in the excitement, however. Crypto Kit warned that 'what's stopping the market from pulling back 10% from here? Nothing,' while trader ABU CARTEL urged followers to be cautious of FOMO (fear of missing out) and to consider a pullback before investing.
