Bitcoin Price Swings on Iran Strikes, Analyst Sees Opportunity at $74K

Bitcoin's price recovery from a sell-off on September 2 was marked by high volatility after renewed US strikes on Iran sent it tumbling toward $76,000. The cryptocurrency swung from an intraday high of over $78,000 to a daily low of $76,229.

Data showed the price fell sharply just minutes after reclaiming $78,000 when the US military said it had struck positions inside Iran, leading to retaliatory strikes by the IRGC. The military exchange also sent US stocks plummeting and oil prices soaring, with Brent crude briefly topping $95 per barrel.

Despite a marginal decline of 0.8%, bitcoin's price action was brutal for bullish traders, with liquidated long bets accounting for over 80% of the nearly $110 million in leveraged positions wiped out on the cryptocurrency.

Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe points out that bitcoin's failure to break past $77,700 signals a full market recovery remains premature. He anticipates liquidity sweeps near $76,400 and a crucial support check at $76,200, with the key structural boundary offering a 'tremendous opportunity' for strategic long entries at $74,000.
