Bitcoin Price Takes a Hit Amid Strategy Sell-Off and Regulatory Uncertainty

Bitcoin's price has taken a hit, dropping to around $64,200 after briefly touching an intraday high of $65,416. The near-2% daily loss erased over $20Bn in market capitalization in under four hours.

The trigger for the drop was a series of strategy sells by Strategy, which dropped its holdings from 1,690 BTC to 840,447 coins between Aug. 3 and Aug. 9 at an average price of $64,262.

CEO Phong Le defended the move as evidence of a 'Digital Credit Capital Framework' working as intended, but Peter Schiff disagreed, arguing that Strategy functions more like a leveraged bet than a Bitcoin proxy.

The broader market is now digesting the selling pressure against a backdrop of regulatory noise and a contested chain split. Where bitcoin goes from here depends on whether the current range holds or breaks.
