Bitcoin's price could surge to $1 million within five years, according to VanEck's Head of Digital Assets Research Matthew Sigel. In an appearance on CNBC's Halftime Report, Sigel framed this target as the firm's base-case scenario rather than a high-risk bet.

Sigel cited demographic shifts and rising allocations from younger investors as key drivers behind Bitcoin's potential growth. He also pointed to the first central bank purchase of Bitcoin for reserves as proof that adoption is moving beyond retail speculation.

The trajectory of Bitcoin's price increase can be compared to the video game industry, Sigel explained. Assets once seen as niche tend to broaden across age groups, and newcomers rarely walk away.
