Bitcoin Price Tests Key Support Levels as Range Compression Continues
Bitcoin's price slipped below $63,000 on Monday, but this decline is not being seen as a breakout. In fact, very little has changed on the Bitcoin chart since late May and June. After the sharp selloff during that time, BTC has spent weeks rotating inside a broad consolidation range with the lower boundary near $58,100 and resistance concentrated around $67,000.
The current setup is worth watching because of how horizontal support, a descending trendline, and two moving averages are compressing the price. This range cannot narrow indefinitely. Bitcoin remains below its 50-day exponential moving average, currently near $64,638, which has turned into dynamic resistance and overlaps with the descending trendline.
The longer-term picture remains weaker, as the 200-day EMA is still far above spot at approximately $72,774. If buyers lose support around $58,097, the next technical reference sits near $53,181, approximately 15% below Monday's price. Below that, my chart points to approximately $49,000.
