Bitcoin Price to Ride on US Macro Events This Week
The cryptocurrency market is bracing for a crucial week of macroeconomic events that could impact Bitcoin's price. Analysts at the Kobeissi Letter highlighted three key developments scheduled to take place in the next five days: the July PCE inflation report, revised second-quarter GDP data, and Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole.
On Wednesday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis will release the July Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index and core PCE, which remains a crucial indicator for assessing underlying inflationary pressures. Economists expect core PCE to rise slightly month-over-month and 3.2% annually, potentially pushing Treasury yields and the dollar higher if the reading is hotter-than-expected.
The second estimate of US GDP for Q2 will also be released on Wednesday, showing annualized growth of just 1.5%, down from 2.1% during Q1. This could further indicate a slowdown in the economy, potentially reducing pressure on the Fed to tighten monetary policy further.
Friday's keynote address by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole will be closely watched for clues about how the central bank views persistent inflation and whether another rate hike remains on the table.
