Bitcoin Prices Volatile Ahead as Hawkish Outlook and Rising Reserves Combine
The Bitcoin price has been on a rollercoaster ride in recent days, and experts are warning of potential volatility ahead. The Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's hawkish outlook at Jackson Hole on August 28th sent shockwaves through the market, causing BTC to fall by 3% and Ethereum to drop by 2.74%. This risk-off attitude has been reflected in rising exchange reserves, which have climbed to 685,000 BTC - a level not seen since 2026.
Rising reserves mean more supply is ready to be sold, a warning sign for swing traders and investors. However, other factors such as Bitcoin spot ETF flows and whale activity will also impact future price trends. Joao Wedson, CEO of Alphractal, warned of an imminent price move due to the Bitcoin Network Stress Index reaching extremely low levels.
The index combines hash rate volatility, fee behavior, and active supply fluctuations to map network stress. Historically, when this metric falls to extreme lows, it has marked important market transition moments. While Wedson did not specify which direction the price will move next, he warned that expansion in volatility is imminent.
