Bitcoin Prints First Death Cross in Three Years: Is it a Bottom or Crash?
Bitcoin's August rally has raised questions about whether it's building a bottom for its next rise or falling deeper into a bear market. The cryptocurrency is holding near $78,000 after gaining over 30% in August, but trading volumes remain weak and at levels not seen since September 2023.
Analysts say the pattern of Bitcoin printing a 'death cross' for the first time in three years could signal a bottom, rather than a crash. This pattern has appeared near past market bottoms and before some of Bitcoin's strongest bullish reversals.
Macro and on-chain analyst Nonzee noted that this is not Bitcoin entering a new collapse but laying the groundwork for the next cycle. According to him, a bottom 'is not one candle' but a series of events that erodes confidence before the trend changes.
