Bitcoin Rallies Above $75,000 as Short Squeeze and Regulatory Sentiment Fuel Momentum
Bitcoin (BTC) surged above $75,000 on Friday, marking its strongest rally in months. The cryptocurrency's price climbed over 7% on Wednesday and another 5.36% on Thursday, decisively crossing $70,000 and closing at $73,011.
The rally is attributed to a combination of factors, including improving regulatory sentiment, lower bond yields, and a $3 billion short squeeze. Rachel Lucas, an analyst at BTC Markets, stated that the real driver behind the market's momentum was the US Treasury's announcement to double long-dated bond buybacks.
This move improved liquidity conditions across the market, with 24-hour trading volume rising to $137.28 billion and the overall cryptocurrency market cap increasing by 6.79% to $2.53 trillion.
