Bitcoin Rallies as Trump Administration Explores Iran De-Escalation
Bitcoin surged on Thursday after reports that the Trump administration was exploring ways to contain the renewed Iran conflict. The cryptocurrency gained roughly 5% after falling below $77,000 earlier in the session.
The rally comes as traders welcomed signs of de-escalation between the US and Iran, which has an unusually direct link to financial markets due to the Strait of Hormuz's importance to global energy supplies. Brent crude climbed toward $98 per barrel as traders continued to price the risk of disruption to oil shipments.
However, the situation in Ukraine remains tense, with Russia continuing attacks on Ukrainian economic and civilian infrastructure, including a Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine facility in Kyiv Oblast. This suggests that Bitcoin's rally should not necessarily be interpreted as markets suddenly pricing global peace.
