Bitcoin Rallies to Near $80K Amid Strong ETF Inflows and Treasury Buybacks
Bitcoin's price surged to near $80,000 on August 24 after a rapid rally of more than 20% in just one week. The cryptocurrency market has seen a sharp rebound, driven by several factors including U.S. Treasury buybacks and renewed demand for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
The U.S. Treasury Department's increased long-term Treasury buybacks on August 19 eased upward pressure on long-end interest rates and borrowing costs, injecting liquidity into risk assets and driving the rebound in Bitcoin prices.
Another catalyst is the renewed demand for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, which experienced their strongest week of inflows in 2026 as investors returned to crypto-related investment products during the rally. Sustained ETF inflows are arguably more significant than short-term retail enthusiasm because they suggest that institutional and traditional market capital is returning to Bitcoin.
