Bitcoin Rally Driven by Strong Spot Demand
The recent surge in Bitcoin's price has sparked debate about whether it represents a bubble or sustainable growth. According to QCP Capital, strong spot demand rather than leveraged trading is driving the rally.
QCP notes that $2.8 billion in net inflows occurred into spot Bitcoin ETFs during the rise from $63,500. This contrasts with the decrease in open positions in Bitcoin futures markets, which dropped from 646,000 BTC in mid-August to 588,000 BTC.
The company also observes that funding rates have remained at relatively low levels, indicating that the price increase is not driven by aggressively leveraged long positions. This could suggest a more sustainable market structure for Bitcoin due to limited accumulation of excessive leverage.
