Bitcoin Rally Hits $80K Wall as Exchange Supply and ETF Demand Cool
Bitcoin's recent rally has hit a wall at $80,000 after briefly climbing above $81,000. The retreat comes as several factors that supported August's rebound begin to flash less favorable signals.
The forces supporting the rebound include spot ETF demand, available exchange supply, and spot-market buying. However, these factors are now showing signs of weakness.
One of the key indicators is Binance's Bitcoin reserves, which have reached a 2026 high of approximately 687,000 BTC. Higher exchange reserves can increase the amount of Bitcoin immediately available to trade, creating a potential supply overhang.
Market conditions are also becoming less supportive, with markets pricing in roughly a 60% probability of a Federal Reserve rate increase in September following Chair Kevin Warsh's hawkish comments at Jackson Hole.
