Bitcoin Rally Revives Struggling Mining Stocks Amid AI Shift
The recent surge in Bitcoin's price has breathed new life into struggling mining stocks. According to BlocksBridge Consulting, three beaten-down companies - Canaan, American Bitcoin, and Cango - have seen their shares rise by between 41% and 67% over the past week.
This rebound comes as a surprise given the trend of miners shifting focus towards artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC). However, BlocksBridge identified three catalysts behind Bitcoin's rally: the US Treasury Department's announcement to double its liquidity-support buybacks for longer-dated Treasury securities, renewed regulatory optimism following a White House meeting with crypto executives, and a sharp short squeeze.
The findings echo earlier reporting that Bitcoin's price can still influence mining stocks. BlocksBridge's analysis also revealed that publicly traded Bitcoin miners have invested significantly more in AI data centers than they generate in revenue from these areas.
