Bitcoin Rally Sparks Mining Stock Surge Over AI Hopes
Bitcoin's recent price surge has lifted mining stocks above those focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), according to BlocksBridge Consulting.
The firm's Miner Weekly report shows that Bitcoin has rallied about 23% over the past week, outpacing most AI-linked infrastructure stocks. While some AI/HPC-heavy names were flat or down, mining stocks with direct exposure to Bitcoin saw significant gains.
Canaan, American Bitcoin, and Cango rose between 41% and 67%, while CoreWeave, Nebius, and IREN saw smaller moves of around 21%, 17%, and 15% respectively.
BlocksBridge attributes the stock surge to three overlapping catalysts: Treasury liquidity-support buybacks, renewed US crypto regulatory momentum, and a sharp liquidation-driven short squeeze.
