Bitcoin Rebound Pushes AI to Secondary Position
The resurgence of Bitcoin prices in August has pushed artificial intelligence (AI) to a secondary position, according to Woofun AI. The sharp rise in BTC prices led to increased speculative activity among mining companies, forcing them to pause their investments in AI.
Strategy and Strive have added billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin to their corporate assets in the last week of August, with Strive purchasing 1,800 Bitcoins for approximately $143 million. Strategy has also resumed its buying activity, purchasing 4,603 Bitcoins at $80,318 each, exceeding a total of 845,000 BTC.
Bitmine (BMNR.US) has been continuously buying Ethereum (ETH) for 65 consecutive weeks, adding another 53,501 ETH last week, bringing its total holdings to over 5.9 million ETH, approaching its target of 5% of Ethereum's circulating supply.
The market rebound in August also saw a surge in mining stock prices, with Canaan (CAN.US), American Bitcoin (ABTC.US), and Cango (CANG.US) seeing share price increases ranging from 41% to 67%. The industry's focus has shifted back from AI infrastructure to the intrinsic value of crypto assets.
