OpenAI and Anthropic, along with over 100 other technology and financial services organizations, sent an open letter to governments and businesses urging them to prioritize cyber defense against AI-enabled attacks. They warned that AI models will increasingly be used in sophisticated cyberattacks as the technology develops.

The call to action comes after several recent cybersecurity incidents involving advanced AI models, including one at Hugging Face that OpenAI could have potentially prevented earlier.

BTC rose 2% to $80,122 on Thursday, reclaiming its spot above $80,000 for the first time since May. The surge in demand was driven by renewed interest in US Bitcoin ETFs, which have attracted over $2.6 billion over the past eight trading sessions.

Oil prices rose as Washington's statement that it is not negotiating with Iran reduced expectations of a near-term diplomatic breakthrough that could restore energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude gained 2.6% to $90.14 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate rose 1.9% to $83.81.
