Bitcoin Red Team Cracks Code with AI Audit, But Bugs Remain

A team of developers, known as Bitcoin Red Team, used AI tools to conduct an audit of Bitcoin-related code. In just 30 hours, they found nearly 5,000 issues, including a wallet bug fix that was merged into Bitcoin Core.

The AI-driven audit highlights the potential of AI in improving crypto security, but it also reveals challenges. For example, OpenAI cut off access to its tools mid-project, forcing the team to switch to alternatives.

Despite identifying many bugs, coordinating fixes with maintainers remains slow. This shows that finding bugs is easier than getting them resolved.
