The Bitcoin Red Team, a volunteer group of 16 people, has completed an audit of the Bitcoin ecosystem in under 30 hours. The team used a mix of artificial intelligence tools and human review to scan open-source code across hundreds of projects.

During this time, they found close to 5,000 potential security issues, with 720 rated as high or critical severity. This is an incredibly fast pace, with the team averaging about one critical exploit per hour per person.

The audit was prompted by a recent hack of the Coldcard hardware wallet, which resulted in over $100 million in stolen Bitcoin. The team's work is ongoing, and they have not yet released the full list of affected projects or confirmed fixes for reported issues.
