Bitcoin Red Team Uncovers 7,958 Potential Security Issues in 501 Bitcoin Projects
Bitcoin Red Team, an AI-assisted security review group, recently conducted a thorough examination of 501 open-source Bitcoin projects. Over 108 hours of scanning revealed a staggering 7,958 potential security issues.
The review identified 1,280 critical or high-priority vulnerabilities, with about a quarter being reproducible and nearly 30% reported to project maintainers for patching.
Notably, the review found weaknesses in various areas, including wallets, Lightning infrastructure, and payment software. For instance, BTCPay Server was updated following the findings.
The team emphasizes that not all identified issues are confirmed exploits, and ongoing human verification is crucial to ensure accuracy.
