Bitcoin Red Team Uncovers 85 Critical Bugs in AI-Powered Security Sweep
A team of volunteer developers known as the Bitcoin Red Team has identified an astonishing number of security vulnerabilities across nearly 400 Bitcoin-related projects. Using artificial intelligence to conduct a large-scale code audit, they uncovered 85 critical bugs and a total of 4,962 findings in under 24 hours.
The team's efforts follow recent security incidents within the Bitcoin ecosystem, including a high-profile hack of Coldcard wallets that left some users facing significant losses. The developers estimate they are discovering around one critical bug per hour while spending approximately $10,000 daily on computing resources.
The affected teams have confirmed the authenticity of the findings, highlighting the importance of the Bitcoin Red Team's work. However, the flood of reports has created its own challenges, with some maintainers becoming overwhelmed by the volume of findings.
