Bitcoin Red Team Uses Chinese AI to Scan Ecosystem for Security Flaws
The Bitcoin Red Team is leveraging Chinese AI models to detect security flaws in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Led by pseudonymous developer Calle, the volunteer group combines AI tools with human review to examine wallets, Lightning applications, software libraries, and other projects.
Calle noted that developers have confirmed numerous critical and high-severity vulnerabilities, warning against relying on unmaintained projects. He emphasized that projects that started AI audits months ago are in a better position than those who didn't, and encouraged all projects to establish their own AI audit pipelines for the future.
The Red Team has used AI models from Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, Z.ai's GLM 5.2, as well as OpenAI and Anthropic. However, Calle mentioned that American models come with limitations and restrictions imposed by OpenAI and Anthropic when doing security research.
