Bitcoin Rejected at Record High, BitMEX Shuts Down
Bitcoin saw its price peak at $67,000 earlier this week before being rejected and dropping to $63,750. The cryptocurrency had been on a steady climb since Sunday, reaching $65,000 and then breaking through the $66,000 resistance level. However, the price run could not be sustained, and BTC quickly dipped back down to $64,000.
Despite its $3,000 correction from the local top, Bitcoin remains about 2% up on the week. Other notable performers include Ethereum, TRX, XMR, UNI, and HBAR, which have seen significant price gains. However, some assets such as HYPE, ZEC, CC, and DOGE are still in the red.
BitMEX, a veteran derivatives platform, announced that it will shut down in September, while Strategy extended its buying pause for Bitcoin. The SEC also agreed to overhaul recordkeeping after settling with Coinbase over lost texts.
