Bitcoin Rejection: BIP-110 Fork Fails to Gain Momentum
The Bitcoin network has effectively rejected a proposed fork known as BIP-110 after just two blocks were mined. This enforcement branch, which had been anticipated to diverge from the main chain, remains stuck at block 961,633 while the primary blockchain continues to advance.
According to calculations by Michael Saylor, approximately 99.85% of Bitcoin's hash rate remained loyal to the main chain, while the BIP-110 branch required around 25 years to achieve its initial difficulty recalibration due to its minimal computational resources.
The BIP-110 implementation transitioned into its enforcement signaling stage at block 961,632 on August 8, but failed to attract significant support. Only 51 out of 2,016 blocks displayed support during the preceding period, representing a mere 2.53% backing.
