Bitcoin Rises Above $70,000 as Weaker Dollar Fuels Crypto Market Gains
A weaker US dollar and shifting bond market expectations have revived investor appetite for cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin has surpassed $70,000 in value, rising by 4.1% to over $71,900.
This is its highest level since May 31. The increase comes amid changes in the U.S. debt market, where actions by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent aimed at lowering yields have supported investor interest in risk assets.
US plans to buy back long-term government bonds initially led to a decline in their yields and weakened the dollar to a three-month low, creating favorable conditions for the cryptocurrency market.
According to BTSE Chief Operating Officer Jeff Mei, when yields fall and the dollar weakens, risk assets generally rise. This has already been seen with Bitcoin's price increase.
