Bitcoin Roars Past Meta and Tesla in Market Cap on Regulatory Catalysts
Bitcoin has surged past Meta and Tesla in market capitalization after a 18% gain in just 48 hours, reclaiming its spot among the world's top 15 assets. This move was triggered by two major events: the SEC's proposed 'Crypto Asset Regulatory Framework' and Trump's public urging of Congress to fast-track the Clarity Act.
The framework aims to revive on-chain fundraising, which was effectively shut down after a wave of scams and failures in 2017. If enacted, it would allow smaller projects to raise up to $5 million over four years and larger ones to raise up to $75 million annually without completing a full securities registration.
The Clarity Act aims to resolve the jurisdictional deadlock between the SEC and CFTC, which has been a major barrier for institutional investors. Trump's remarks led to another $6,500 gain in Bitcoin's price, pushing it from $65,982 to $72,496.
Total market-wide short liquidations reached approximately $29.75 billion, with shorts accounting for over $27 billion. A squeeze of this magnitude can accelerate rallies and indicate a structural shift in the market.
