Bitcoin Robbery Plot Leads to 15-Year Sentence for Man Involved in Kidnapping
A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in an attempted robbery of Bitcoin and a kidnapping in Connecticut. Adam Iza was found guilty of planning and coordinating the crime with others, who were trying to steal from the family of someone involved in a previous theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin.
The carjacking and kidnapping occurred on August 25, 2024, when six Florida men, later arrested by Danbury police, stole a Lamborghini Urus and kidnapped two people inside. The investigation revealed that the kidnappers were trying to get to the family's Bitcoin stash.
Iza was already being held in federal custody since September 24, 2024, for unrelated offenses in California. Six others involved in the crime have pleaded guilty to their charges.
