Barnstable Police and the County Sheriff's Office have issued a warning about recent Bitcoin scams targeting residents. The scammers are calling victims, claiming they missed jury duty or have an outstanding warrant, but promise to clear up the issue if paid in cryptocurrency.

In three incidents this week, the scammers directed victims to use a specific Bitcoin ATM in Barnstable for transactions, attempting to fleece them of up to $30,000. The authorities urge anyone receiving such calls to hang up immediately and contact police.
