Bitcoin Scarcity Crisis: Millionaires May Be Priced Out of Whole Coins

Bitcoin's scarcity is becoming an increasingly pressing concern as mining operations have already released over 20.07 million coins from its maximum supply of 21 million, leaving only a small fraction available for purchase.

In a recent post on X, Changpeng Zhao, the former Binance CEO, highlighted that wealthy individuals may soon find themselves priced out of owning a complete Bitcoin due to its rising value and limited availability.

Citing data from August 2026, CZ estimated that between 10-20% of all existing Bitcoin could be permanently lost or inaccessible, further exacerbating the scarcity issue.

The math simply doesn't support enough complete coins for America's millionaire population alone, with approximately 23.6 million millionaires outnumbering the entire Bitcoin supply available.

This scarcity has been compounded by Binance's decision to terminate transaction processing with 16 cryptocurrency exchanges due to regulatory compliance actions related to sanctions.
