Bitcoin Scores Rare Win Over S&P 500 with 2.6% Rally
Bitcoin delivered a rare win over the S&P 500 on Monday with a 2.6% rally to over $64,000.
This marked one of the few times in 2026 that Bitcoin outperformed its benchmark, with Glassnode noting that BTC only beat the S&P 500 on about one-third of trading days over the past three months.
The shift away from Bitcoin's historical role as a higher-beta asset is largely attributed to the AI stock frenzy, which has siphoned capital into semiconductor and tech stocks, and the bear phase of its four-year cycle after peaking above $126,000 in October 2025.
Analysts remain divided on where the bottom lands, with price targets ranging from $38,000 to $60,000 by year-end. However, sustained outperformance against equities would require a reversal of the capital rotation into AI stocks, which is not imminent.
