Bitcoin Security Consortium Launches with $15 Million Funding Commitment
The Bitcoin Security Consortium has launched with $15 million in funding over three years to safeguard the Bitcoin protocol infrastructure. The consortium brings together nine founding members, including BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets, Strategy, Coinbase, and Blockstream.
The primary objective is to fund independent open-source developers working on the Bitcoin network's long-term security, core maintenance, and post-quantum cryptographic resilience.
Robert Mitchnick, Global Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock, noted that 'Bitcoin Core developers perform essential work, and we are pleased to join this group in making dedicated funding available to support the network's long-term security needs.'
