Bitcoin Set for Sharp Gain as Sentiment Shifts, BlackRock Digital Assets Chief Predicts
BlackRock's head of digital assets, Robert Mitchnick, sees a shift in investor sentiment toward Bitcoin. He believes this will lead to a sharp gain for the cryptocurrency.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Mitchnick noted that Bitcoin has been moving separately from the stock market this year. While equities have surged due to enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, Bitcoin has traded sideways or declined. However, he views this decoupling as a positive sign and a healthy development in the long term.
Bitcoin can serve as both a diversification tool and an asset that hedges against extreme risks, according to Mitchnick. He pointed out that the cryptocurrency has gone through five major boom-and-bust cycles so far, with each cycle ending with Bitcoin trading above its starting price.
The recent inflow of funds into U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is also a positive sign. Over $850 million flowed into these ETFs last week, the strongest inflow since mid-April. BlackRock's IBIT now holds approximately 750,000 BTC with assets valued at nearly $50 billion.
