Bitcoin Shifts Towards Smaller Transactions

A shift towards smaller transactions on the Bitcoin network may indicate that Satoshi Nakamoto's original vision for the cryptocurrency is being realized.

CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju observed this trend, which aligns with Nakamoto's desire to see Bitcoin used as an everyday form of money rather than just a store of value.

Ju examined data from 2019 to 2022 and found that larger median transaction sizes were common during this period. However, since 2023, transfers have become smaller and more frequent, with the median fee on Bitcoin currently around $0.40 and Ethereum's at approximately $0.68.

Ju believes that this shift towards smaller transactions indicates an increase in real-life peer-to-peer payments, a far cry from Bitcoin's reputation as just a store of value.
