Bitcoin Shifts Towards Smaller Transactions, Aligning with Satoshi's Vision
CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju has identified a shift in Bitcoin's on-chain data towards smaller transactions, aligning with Satoshi Nakamoto's original vision for the cryptocurrency.
Ju examined transaction fees on the Bitcoin network and compared them to Ethereum's over the past decade. He found that since 2021, Bitcoin's median transaction fees have been cheaper than Ethereum's, at around $0.40 compared to $0.68.
To identify peer-to-peer (P2P) payments, Ju focused on transfers between $40 and $1,000. Data from 2019 to 2022 showed larger median transaction sizes, but since 2023, transfers have become smaller and more frequent, indicating an increase in real-life P2P payments.
Ju believes this shift suggests that Bitcoin is evolving in line with Satoshi's original vision, gaining traction as a practical payment method. The trend could mark a new era for Bitcoin, no longer just for whales and speculators, but everyday users getting in on the action.
