Bitcoin Shrugs Off Geopolitical Turmoil for Strongest August Rally in Years
Bitcoin is on track to log its best August performance since 2017, despite facing significant macroeconomic headwinds. The largest cryptocurrency has maintained a monthly advance of over 24%, reaching a price near $78,400 as of press time.
The resilience displayed by Bitcoin comes in the face of escalating US-Iran hostilities and a hawkish pivot from the Federal Reserve. These developments have introduced new inflation risks, further complicating the Fed's policy path.
However, analysts point out that the energy shock has been contained, with an estimated 6 million to 8 million barrels per day of crude continuing to flow uninterrupted through the Strait of Hormuz. This has prevented a broader liquidity panic, allowing Bitcoin room to consolidate rather than capitulate.
