Bitcoin Slips as US Senate Prepares to Vote on Crypto Regulation
The cryptocurrency market has turned cautious ahead of a crucial vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the US Senate. Bitcoin slipped below $78,000 after briefly breaking through $79,000 overnight.
The vote is not final passage of the legislation but will determine whether to invoke cloture on a motion to proceed with the bill, requiring 60 votes to advance it towards debate. The revised language attempts to address concerns from banks that crypto products could pull deposits away from traditional lenders.
XRP has been one of the clearest beneficiaries of optimism surrounding the legislation, surging around 7% on Monday and climbing as high as $1.49 before easing to around $1.42 early Tuesday.
