Bitcoin Slumps as SEC Delays Crypto Regulation Talks
Crypto markets took a hit on August 14 as regulatory delays and economic uncertainty weighed on prices. Bitcoin fell 0.86% to $62,874.95, while Ethereum dropped 0.35% to $1,877.90.
The total crypto market cap declined by 0.62% to $2.24 trillion due in part to the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) cancellation of its planned meeting on tokenized stock trading and its delay in releasing plans for this process.
Crypto stocks, including Coinbase Global and Robinhood Markets, also suffered losses as investors grew cautious about the sector's prospects.
