Bitcoin Soars Above $72,000 as Yields Fall and Regulation Hopes Rise
Bitcoin has surged to its highest level since June, breaking above $72,000 after gaining over 10% in two days. The rally was driven by a combination of factors, including lower U.S. Treasury yields following an expansion of long-term Treasury buybacks, and expectations for looser crypto regulation.
According to South Korean exchange Upbit, Bitcoin traded at 100.591 million won, or around $72,700, as of August 21. This marks the first time it has topped 100 million won since June 1, when it reached 104.14 million won.
The broader market also saw significant gains, with altcoins like XRP jumping 15% and Ether rising 3.5%. Solana added 3% to its value during this period.
