Bitcoin Soars Above $81,000 as Rate Hike Odds Ease
Crypto prices surged on Friday as Bitcoin pushed above USD 81,282 and held its ground. The price increase was driven by Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller's comments supporting a steady rate hold in September.
The odds of a September rate hike fell to around 50% following Waller's remarks, down from 70% the previous day. This shift in expectations sparked a sharp rebound in crypto prices, with Bitcoin up 5.54% on the day and total crypto market capitalization climbing to USD 2.72 trillion.
Zcash led the top ten cryptocurrencies with a gain of 16.38%, followed by XRP's 7.68% rise and Hyperliquid's 6.51%. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index reached 78, firmly in greed territory, up from extreme fear just weeks ago.
