Bitcoin Soars Amid Tech Stocks Stagnation, Tokenisation Hype
Bitcoin surged to the $69,000 range, triggering a massive short squeeze that led to forced liquidations of over $1.2 billion in just one hour.
The sudden price increase was fueled by the combination of weak tech stocks and strong cryptocurrencies, with major assets such as Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana seeing significant gains.
According to CoinGlass data, a total of $1.46 billion worth of positions held by 111,060 traders on exchanges were liquidated over the past 24 hours, with $1.22 billion in short positions being liquidated all at once in one hour.
The surge has sparked interest in tokenisation as a long-term growth driver, with Fundstrat's Tom Lee agreeing with Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev that the industry is at the start of a global tokenisation supercycle.
