Bitcoin Soars Near $70,000 as US Regulations Boost Sentiment
Bitcoin's value surged near $70,000 in early trade on Thursday, August 20th, marking its highest level since June 2nd. This increase is attributed to improved liquidity conditions and potential U.S. regulations favoring cryptocurrencies.
The U.S. Treasury's bond buyback strategy and the SEC's proposed exemptions have further bolstered market sentiment. Bitcoin rallied from around $64,000 to $70,000 after the US Treasury doubled its long-dated debt buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation.
Experts point out that improved liquidity conditions and potentially more supportive U.S. crypto regulation lifted sentiment. Prateek Gupta of Mudrex noted that 'The rally triggered a record $1.1 billion in Bitcoin short liquidations, surpassing the previous $757 million record from May 2021.'
