Bitcoin Soars Over 23% in Seven Days: A Perfect Storm of Factors
Bitcoin surged over 23% in just seven days, breaking above $81,000 before pulling back to around $79,000. This rapid climb was fueled by a combination of factors, including a shift in U.S. Treasury policy, institutional money returning to Bitcoin ETFs, and a heavily short market that created a squeeze.
According to Todd Ault, Founder of Ault Blockchain, 'A lot of things lined up at once.' The dollar weakened, the Treasury stepped into the bond market, too many people were leaning short, and President Trump came out in support of crypto legislation. This created a more favorable environment for Bitcoin and other risk assets.
Tal Fromchenko, founder of LEVERAGED, pointed to the combination of regulation, policy, and positioning as key drivers behind the rally. 'There were three main catalysts landing in the same week,' he said, referencing the SEC proposal, White House support for the Clarity Act, and the subsequent short squeeze.
Bitcoin's move was not solely driven by leveraged traders being forced out of positions, but also by U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracting $1.9 billion in net inflows over five trading days, their strongest week in around 10 months.
