Bitcoin Soars Past $80,000 as Institutional Demand Surges
The price of Bitcoin has surged past $80,000 for the second time this week, with institutional demand continuing to drive the market. This is according to recent data from SoSoValue, which shows that Bitcoin ETFs have seen their largest influx of new capital in months.
In the past eight days, these funds have attracted over $2.8 billion in investment, with a record-breaking $232 million flowing in on Wednesday alone. This surge in institutional demand has helped to drive up the price of Bitcoin, which has now risen by 28% in August - its best monthly performance since November 2024.
However, not all assets are faring as well. Altcoins such as XRP and Solana have seen their gains slow down or even reverse in recent days, suggesting that the market is becoming more selective. The price of Ethereum has risen by 2.3% to $2503, but other altcoins have struggled.
The market's focus is now on upcoming inflation data from the US, which could have a significant impact on interest rates and the value of Bitcoin. A softer-than-expected reading or a more dovish tone from the Federal Reserve could help to sustain the current rally, while higher interest rates could put pressure on the price.
