Bitcoin Soars to 11-Week High on US Economic Warfare Threat
Bitcoin surged to an 11-week high of $72,500 on Thursday after the US threatened 'economic warfare' against Iran. The move came as US President Donald Trump pledged 'the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country,' calling it 'Economic D-Day.'
The comments sent shockwaves through financial markets, causing a rebound in US government bond yields and pushing oil prices to their highest since July 24.
Despite the rally, market participants remain skeptical about the staying power of Bitcoin's newfound strength. Analysts point out that the cryptocurrency still needs to sustain its gains to challenge the bear market grip.
Ki Young Ju, CEO of CryptoQuant, noted the return of positive demand for Bitcoin on both spot and derivatives markets, a phenomenon not seen since October 2025. However, he cautioned that 'the scale remains modest' and more time is needed to confirm a new bull cycle has begun.
