Bitcoin Soars to $80,793 Ahead of Fed's Jackson Hole Meeting
Bitcoin is again flirting with the $81,000 mark ahead of the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole meeting. The leading cryptocurrency has surged more than 2% in a single day and over 10% this week. Its current price is around $80,236 after reaching as high as $80,793 earlier today.
The Fed's annual event at Jackson Hole, Wyoming will bring together central bankers, policymakers, and academics to discuss financial innovation, including cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. This year's keynote speaker is Kevin Warsh, the new Federal Reserve Chair, who has made pro-Bitcoin statements in the past but has been hesitant to lower interest rates.
Bitcoin's rise may be linked to recent positive regulatory news, including President Donald Trump's endorsement of the long-awaited Clarity Act. The proposed law aims to establish a framework for distinguishing between digital assets that are securities, commodities, or payment stablecoins. Lower long-term yields also reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like Bitcoin and gold.
